Me, myself and I

I just realized I started this blog back then without any proper introduction of myself. Most of the time, I was complaining, writing my "emo" thought, random posts, etc.

Here is the story of me, myself and I:
When I first came to Singapore, everyone thought that I'm Singaporean and I'm glad to hear that too. I came from another small country like Singapore and they also have $1 to $1 currency exchange. I was born in Brunei and grown up with my grandmother, parents and 3 little cute brothers. However, I'm holding Malaysia citizenship. When it came to self-introduction to anyone in any kind of events, people around would be confused about my origin. Why am I Malaysian but not Bruneian? Well, this is because I'm following my dad's nationality due to some policy. Are you confused now? Well, just remember I'm from Brunei as there is my hometown. I love this country as she is peaceful and stress-less place. I'm daughter of a baker/cake designer and a farmer/housewife.

When I first received my 'O' level result, I was sooooo disappointed in one of my subject. I couldn't get in Form 6 (Junior college in Singapore) but I did appeal for it. In the meanwhile, Republic Polytechnic came to my school for talk. I went and also attempted their entry test. It didn't stop there. My aunt whom is in Singapore told me that there are 5 polytechnics in total. Then my dad bought air ticket for me and flew me over for 1-2 weeks. It was my first time travel alone and pursued my study further. I received some priceless lessons from my aunt too. She taught me to be more independent and wanted me to handle my stuff on my own. I couldn't apply the rest of the polytechnics online because the application had already closed on the day I just gotten my results. Hence, my aunt asked me to appeal in. She helped me a lot on the appeal letter. After that, I had to submit it personally to all the admin office. Different polytechnic gave me different impressions. Singapore Polytechnic, I was lost for approximately an hour inside trying to find the admin office and way out. Even though with the map they provided and with a passerby's help. Ngee Ann Polytechnic, the slope!!!! Temasek Polytechnic, very cool school. Republic Polytechnic, a huge white box. Nanyang Polytechnic, when I came up from the escalator, my mind and heart told me,"I want to study here". All of them are unique and famous in some fields individually. After I had submitted everything, I went back to Brunei. I helped out in my relative's shop while praying for good news.

One day, my aunt called me and said,"Finally have some good news!" NYP accepted me!!!! I was so surprised and soooooo freaking happy inside and outside. It was a dream? Not it was not!!! I got into the school that my mind and heart told me. My dad bought me another ticket and came over here on 15 Mar 2008. And here was the start of another new chapter of my life.

First two months, I was staying at my aunt's house. Every time I would wait when there wasn't anyone at home and gave my mom a call. I missed my family so much and always ended up in tears. I wanted to hear my grandma's voice and only once. She said,"talk to me when you're back. I'm waiting for you. Do take of yourself....." And she started to cry. 16 years plus under their care and suddenly stepped out to a stranger place to live independently. It was really tough at first and slowly I had adapted to the environment. Made new friends and mostly Singaporean, speak like them, play like them, kiasu like them, take pictures like them and I'm proud of them. They are really awesome people. Love all of you, my lovely Singaporean friends.

Hopefully now you know who am I, me and myself, where I came from and why am I here.
See you all soon in next post.
Love

Logging off,
Chin
